Our Model
To know when you have enough is to be rich beyond measure. – Lao-Tzu
The Ḥakīm Wellness model of service is based on the following principles (beautifully articulated by my friends at Charity Focus / Service Space and paraphrased here):
1. Consumption to Contribution: wherever you find yourself, relax the self-centered motivation that asks “what can I get?” and expand into the we-centered spaciousness of “how can I serve?”
2. Transaction to Trust: count on people to act selflessly and hold themselves accountable.
3. Isolation to Community: honor the reality of your inter-connectedness with humanity.
4. Scarcity to Abundance: recognize and engage non-material resources like social capital.
